KremerThe Center for Economic Development is thrilled to offer sincerest congratulations to our colleague and CID Faculty Advisory Council member, Michael Kremer, who along with our dear MIT colleagues Esther Duflo and Abhijit Banerjee has won the 2019 Nobel Prize in Economics.

In the announcement, the Nobel Committee notes that “their new experiment-based approach has transformed development economics, which is now a flourishing field of research.” We are happy to see recognition of the empirical approach and the focus on addressing some of the most pressing issues the developing world faces. We join the world in celebrating the intellectual achievements of three brilliant economists who have brought us closer to understanding and ending poverty.
