Shengqiao Lin

Shengqiao Lin holds a PhD in government from the University of Texas at Austin. His research centers on the political economy of development, state-business relations, and industrial policies with a regional focus on China. Using a mixed-method approach involving computational methods, causal inference designs, and in-depth interviews, his dissertation studies how private businesses mitigate political risk in China and how these state-business interactions shape developmental outcomes such as economic growth, poverty alleviation, and technology innovation. His work has been accepted or published at Journal of Politics, Journal of Contemporary China, and Asian Survey and received the 2023 Franklin L. Burdette/Pi Sigma Alpha Award.
