CID PhD Affiliate, Concentrations in Education & Economics
My work in the last nine years has led me to engage intensely with work at the intersection of education and inequality in developing countries. First, as a primary school teacher at an under-resourced government school in Delhi for two years; then as a researcher, managing education research programs through Stanford's Freeman Spogli Institute for four years; and finally, as a rising fifth-year PhD student in the Education Policy and Program Evaluation concentration at the School of Education at Harvard. Moving forward, I wish to deepen my work on education and inequality in India and South Asia through new collaborations and feedback from peers in a multidisciplinary environment. Furthermore, I hope to leverage research from several disciplines—education, economics, and political science—to enrich and inform my work. My research is rooted in designing and evaluating policies that help reduce inequalities between traditionally advantaged and disadvantaged students in India. Specifically, I am interested in evaluation programs that promote the development of "soft skills" and pro-climate attitudes and behaviors among students in India. Additionally, I am interested in research on the impact of affirmative action policies in higher education on students from disadvantaged caste backgrounds in India.
