This international consensus report addresses the role of micronutrients in the management of type 2 diabetes (T2D). Drawing on a comprehensive literature review and a modified Delphi process involving experts from 12 countries, the panel developed 18 consensus statements, including nutrient-specific recommendations, screening approaches, and guidance on micronutrient supplementation. The report highlights the higher prevalence of vitamin and mineral deficiencies among individuals with T2D and the potential importance of targeted nutritional assessment as part of medical nutrition therapy. The authors also identify future research priorities, including personalized nutrition strategies that incorporate individual characteristics, genetic information, and gut microbiome profiles to improve diabetes management.
