This ecological study evaluates the impact of two national interventions in Chile—a breastfeeding promotion program (1996) and an extension of maternity leave (2011)—on exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) rates at three and six months. Results show that while early interventions had limited measurable effects, later policy changes, particularly extended maternity leave, were associated with significant increases in EBF rates, highlighting the importance of structural supports in improving breastfeeding outcomes.
