This study analyzes trends in cardiovascular risk management among adults with diagnosed diabetes in Mexico using nationally representative survey data from 2016 to 2023. The authors assess control of key risk factors—including glycemia, blood pressure, cholesterol, and smoking—and examine medication use and determinants of control. They find that despite rising cardiovascular risk, overall control of risk factors remains low, with especially poor cholesterol management, highlighting significant gaps in diabetes care and the need for improved strategies to reduce cardiovascular complications.
