This cross-sectional study examines caregiver burden among informal caregivers of palliative care patients in Kerala, India. Findings show that caregivers experience a “double burden,” balancing patient care responsibilities with their own psychological stress. A majority reported moderate to severe burden, with stress, male gender, younger patient age, lower education, and sleep disruption identified as key risk factors. The study highlights the need for a shift toward family-centered mental health approaches to better support caregivers.
