This working paper examines how individuals learn through direct experience and through social interactions. The authors develop a framework distinguishing experiential learning from social learning and analyze how each mechanism shapes beliefs and behavior. Using experimental or field evidence, the study identifies conditions under which individuals rely more heavily on personal experience versus information from peers, with implications for policy design and information dissemination strategies.
