Globalization and Pandemics

This article develops a framework for analyzing the interaction between globalization and the spread of pandemics. The authors examine how international trade, mobility, and global production networks influence disease transmission, economic disruption, and policy responses. The model highlights tradeoffs between the economic gains from globalization and the heightened vulnerability to cross-border contagion. The paper also studies the effects of containment measures, supply chain disruptions, and international coordination, providing insights into how global integration shapes the economic consequences of pandemics and the design of public health policy.
