This paper examines the concept of “legal alignment” in artificial intelligence systems, proposing frameworks to ensure that AI behavior conforms not only to technical safety objectives but also to legal and ethical norms. The authors analyze challenges in translating legal standards into machine-interpretable constraints and discuss governance mechanisms for aligning advanced AI systems with democratic institutions, regulatory frameworks, and societal values. The paper contributes to ongoing debates on AI safety, accountability, and responsible deployment.
