The Relationship Between Trust and Compliance in the Italian NHS: Results of the People's Voice Survey

This study examines the relationship between public trust and compliance within Italy’s National Health Service (NHS) using data from the People’s Voice Survey. The authors analyze how trust in health institutions shapes willingness to comply with public health recommendations and mandates, particularly in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. The findings highlight a tension between short-term compliance achieved through mandates and the long-term importance of maintaining public trust and institutional legitimacy for effective health system governance.
