Nonprofit Governance and Accountability

The Hauser Center for Nonprofit Organizations and the Harvard Law School were joint sponsors of a five-year, $2 million, University-wide research initiative on nonprofit governance and accountability (G&A). The initiative was funded with generous gifts to the Hauser Center from Gus and Rita Hauser, and to the Harvard Law School by Finn Caspersen.
The project included two programs: (1) A research fund that supports promising work on governance and accountability by Harvard faculty; as well as (2) A Community of Practice—faculty seminars & symposia—intended to develop the intellectual frameworks and faculty collaboration needed to build a coherent body of new knowledge, primarily by organizing interdisciplinary faculty seminars.
The Governance and Accountability website contains information about previously funded projects through the G&A project, summaries of faculty seminars, symposia proceedings, and working papers.
