Public-health challenges cannot be solved by any one sector acting alone. Drawing on three decades of work across business, government, civil society, academia, and communities, Myriam Sidibé examined what makes cross-sector partnerships credible, scalable, and accountable. Her examples included work she has done supporting AB InBev’s ten-year, $1 billion Global Smart Drinking commitment, an ambitious and contested effort to reduce harmful drinking, work with Unilever on a global handwashing and hygiene initiative and emerging work with girls on sexual and reproductive health and rights in Africa. Myriam explored what unlikely allies can achieve together, where partnerships fall short, and what public-health collaboration must become next.
