April 25, 2023, Video: “In just a few months, unless a gridlocked Congress acts, the US Government will hit its borrowing limit, with possible dire consequences for the US and world economies. Can we avert catastrophe? This hybrid seminar was given by former Treasury Secretary and White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew and Harvard professor and former Chair of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers Jason Furman – both of whom were in the middle of past debt-limit crises. They assessed the issues, the politics, and what lies ahead. This event was moderated by M-RCBG Research Fellow Robert Greenstein, founder and President Emeritus of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities and Visiting Fellow at Brookings.”
