May 19, 2020, Video, "The coronavirus pandemic has underscored the critical role that public health plays in protecting the country and the world. Yet, predicated on preventing problems and chronically underfunded, public health’s vital importance can go unnoticed until a major crisis emerges. This Facebook Live Q&A featured Dr. Howard Koh, Harvey V. Fineberg Professor of the Practice of Public Health Leadership at the Harvard Chan School and the Harvard Kennedy School, as well as the 14th Assistant Secretary for Health for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Dr. Koh addressed our response to the current pandemic, and how it is intricately tied to strengthening and building a better public health system. From coordinating federal, state and local agencies, to addressing the feast-or-famine cycle of funding, to investing in new technologies and learning from hard-won lessons of the past, Dr. Koh explored future proofing public health so that we are better prepared for new challenges ahead.
