The report is an outgrowth of a proposal put forward by a number of residents of East Cambridge to create a year-round public market on the site once the station has moved (estimated to be in 2016). It includes a discussion of best practices and management models in other cities with vibrant year-round public markets, examines efforts to establish such a market in the Boston metropolitan area, and identifies other opportunities and challenges specific to the site.
