Harvard graduate students pursuing gender equity–focused experiential learning projects may be eligible for WAPPP internship funding.
- Current Harvard graduate students are eligible for funding; while preference is given to Harvard Kennedy School students, students from across the University are encouraged to apply if their projects fit the internship criteria.
- Students must be enrolled and returning to the University in the subsequent fall semester to be eligible for summer funding.
- Former WAPPP summer fellows and interns are strongly encouraged to apply for additional funding to expand their summer experience into a gender-focused Policy Analysis Exercise (PAE) or Second Year Policy Analysis (SYPA).
About Our Summer Funding Programs
The WAPPP Cultural Bridge Fellowship supports Harvard graduate students in applying their academic knowledge to real-world experience to work in countries or contexts where they have not previously lived or worked. Fellows partner with organizations and governments on equity and gender-focused issues, serving as program analysts, trainers, and researchers while strengthening host institutions’ capacity and applying theory to policy practice. Fellows have worked in more than 74 countries across sectors including education, public health, and environmental and racial justice, with partners including IMAGO Global Grassroots, Casa Migrante, UNICEF, the World Bank, and the governments of Uganda and Meghalaya, India—each experience focused on building cultural bridges and closing gender gaps around the world.
The WAPPP Gender Equity Internship provides financial support for Harvard graduate students to pursue experiential learning opportunities on a wide range of gender-related projects and internships, regardless of geographic location. Gender Equity Interns have worked in diverse settings across sectors such as research, advocacy, health, and economic security, with partners including Invest in Knowledge, Community Food Advocates, UC San Francisco, and Mount Sinai School of Medicine—each experience focused on advancing gender equity and closing gender gaps across policy, practice, and research.
