Advancing women and gender equality in peace negotiations is a burgeoning area of attention for scholarship and practice. Important questions include: How have women participated in and contributed to peace processes? How do gender dynamics influence peace negotiation processes? What are the long-term implications of more gender-equitable participation in peace negotiations?
WAPPP’s Fall 2023 Speaker Series brings together scholars and leaders in practice to examine these timely and important questions. The speaker series will open with scholars providing a theoretical grounding in this subject area and highlighting opportunities for practical and research progress. The series builds from that foundation to address practical applications and specific case examples. The seminar culminates with a panel of leaders in practice from around the globe, celebrating advancements, illuminating challenges, and shining a light on the work ahead.
This seminar is organized by the Women and Public Policy Program (WAPPP) at Harvard Kennedy School (HKS) and co-sponsored by the Program on Negotiation (PON) at Harvard Law School and the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at HKS. The series will be held virtually and in person, and attendance is open to all.
