The year of 2023 marks 19 years since the inception of the “From Harvard Square to the Oval Office: A Political Campaign Practicum” (Oval Office). To date, Oval Office has trained 818 Harvard graduate students and affiliates to run for political office. The Oval Office program is the flagship tool of the Women and Public Policy Program’s mission to advance nontraditional candidates for political office.
As of 2022, 67 alums from the Oval Office program are known to have held elected or appointed positions across the world, representing over a dozen nations, including Australia, Croatia, France, Georgia, Ghana, Haiti, India, Israel, Liberia, the Navajo Nation, Nepal, UAE, the United Kingdom, and the U.S.
