The inequities that exist between prosecutors and public defenders in resources and power are widely known, and these inequities are arguably at the root of many racial disparities in court outcomes, from the moment of charging to sentencing and beyond. This working group is tasked with achieving a deeper understanding of the nature of these inequities in the Commonwealth, recommending solutions for achieving a more equitable distribution of power and resources, and devising a strategic plan through which a rebalancing of power and resources might be achieved.
