Business advice has a checkered history in the United Kingdom. Long mistrusted as an emblem of government over-interference, publicly funded business advice has often been an afterthought; chopped and changed over the course of parliaments with little attention given to understanding what was happening on the ground. Recent developments in UK government policy invite a fresh look at business advice.
