This is an experiential learning course for MPP1 students interested in working on policy issues at the state and local level. ?The goals of the course are for students to learn from practical experience and prepare for their second-year Policy Analysis Exercise.? Each student will be matched on the basis of their policy interests with a partner state agency, town government, or non-profit organization in Massachusetts to address an issue designated by the partner agency.?

Students will divide their time equally between traditional course activities, including one lecture per week, and an applied project.  Lecture materials will cover topical state and local policy issues, explain the budgeting process for state and local government, and present case studies of past Kennedy School field lab projects.

Open to MPP1 students.
