This module course will teach students both the theory and practice of persuasive policy writing. Course assignments will strengthen students’ ability to write professionally for public audiences across industries. Students will write policy blogs to learn how to tell compelling policy stories. Through readings and case studies, students will learn how to strengthen their use of narrative, to communicate well with data, to craft strong counterarguments, and to utilize images and visualizations to strengthen their pieces. Students will complete the module with a broad sense of how to communicate effectively and persuasively in the policy context.
Every Communications Program course assumes a fluency with the English language. Using AI to write assignments is not permitted in Communications Program writing courses; please refer to the syllabus for specific AI policies.
