This course provides a comprehensive examination of the principles, practices, opportunities, and challenges involved in managing nonprofit organizations and leading within the nongovernmental (NGO) and nonprofit sectors. Students explore the mission-driven nature of nonprofit organizations and develop the managerial, strategic, and leadership competencies required to achieve organizational effectiveness, accountability, and long-term sustainability.
The course examines key areas of nonprofit management, including governance and board relations, ethical leadership, strategic planning, fundraising and resource development, financial management, human resource and volunteer management, organizational communication, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement. Students also study innovation, social entrepreneurship, program design and evaluation, service delivery, crisis management, aid management, compliance, and performance measurement within nonprofit and NGO environments.
Through case studies, applied projects, and organizational analysis, students gain practical experience in addressing real-world challenges faced by nonprofit organizations in both domestic and international contexts. Emphasis is placed on developing strategies that maximize social impact while ensuring transparency, compliance, sustainability, cultural responsiveness, and effective stewardship of resources.
