You are a proven leader.

Now you’re at the point in your career when you want to elevate your abilities and do more to expand your reach. You know you can make a greater impact.

It’s time to launch yourself on a path to bolder challenges. The one-year Mid-Career Master in Public Administration (MC/MPA) will propel you to that next step.

You design the curriculum.

As an established professional with real-world experience, you design your own study plan. And as an MC/MPA student, you have the freedom to pursue your intellectual interests, develop new capabilities, expose yourself to new approaches and methods and advance your career.

Dynamic leaders from across the country and around the world enroll in the MC/MPA Program. You are among a true community of peers whose diversity of ideas and experience will expand your thinking. Along with the expertise and knowledge of our renowned HKS faculty members, the wisdom of your classmates and the understanding of public policy issues that you share elevate your Harvard Kennedy School experience.

Kim Bright MC/MPA 2017 was working as chief of staff and policy director for the Rhode Island Department of Education when she enrolled in an HKS Executive Education program three years ago. She fell in love with the school. Now as a mid-career student, she is working on ensuring that black voices will be heard in government.

Experience Cambridge in the summer.

One of the program’s highlights is the five-week Mid-Career Summer Program, which gives you the chance to:

  • Build connections with your classmates and academic instructors
  • Learn about the core methodologies used at HKS
  • Develop new skills (and refresh others) before beginning classes in the fall

Discover all of the resources available to you at HKS, Harvard University and the Boston-Cambridge area.

Applying as a Mason Fellow

If you are from a transitional economy, developing or newly industrialized country, you will apply to the MC/MPA Edward S. Mason Program. Mason Fellows are a cohort within the MC/MPA Program and take part in the two-week Mason Fellows Summer Seminar, which is held right before the Mid-Career Summer Program.
