​In this seminar, Philip will speak about his experience working as an operational officer in Northern Ireland, where he served three tours after 1996 and was a key contributor of intelligence in support of the peace process.

Philip will examine the lessons learned from liaising, living, and talking with the IRA,and how these lessons are applicable to understanding other threats and forms of extremism. He’ll describe his experience participating in the Northern Ireland peace process,speaking to the importance of back channels and engagement in negotiations, and the role intelligence plays in curbing threats and securing peace.

Finally, he’ll discuss Brexit, the Irish border and the current prospects for peace.
