Business and Human Rights: Reflecting on the Past, Acting Now, Shaping Tomorrow

In this hybrid seminar, NYU Stern Professor Michael Posner traces the evolution of the business and human rights field and illustrates how global companies have grappled with related challenges. He offers a practical blueprint for corporate leaders, civil society, students, and governments to work together in adopting human rights–centered practices. He will also touch on the role of the current U.S. administration in shaping policy, recent and ongoing legislation both in the U.S. and abroad, and how these developments affect the industry. Finally, Posner will explore what companies, consumers, investors, and policymakers should do right now to ensure businesses can flourish while keeping human rights at the forefront.

This event will take place in Wexner 434AB for those who wish to attend in person. Others may join us remotely via Zoom. Lunch will be served.

Five copies of Prof. Posner's most recent book, Conscience Incorporated: Pursuing Profits While Protecting Human Rights, will be raffled off to those attending in person.
