This webinar is part of the Capacity Building for Sustainable Development (C4SD) seminar series.

This virtual seminar will feature: Everlyne Nairesiae (Africa Region Director, Landesa), who will speak about how securing land rights for women and marginalized communities across Africa is foundational to building equitable food systems, and the practical challenges of translating land tenure policy into lasting change on the ground. Jess Newman (Senior Director of Agriculture and Sustainability, McCain Foods), who will speak about implementing regenerative agriculture practices across global supply chains and the specific challenges of addressing equity in this work. Simon Winter (Vice President, Reimagining Humanitarian Nutrition Security, The Rockefeller Foundation, and former M-RCBG Senior Fellow), who will speak about building resilient food and nutrition security in fragile regions, and the equity challenges of getting this right. The seminar will be moderated by Alicia Harley (Senior Research Fellow, Sustainability Science Program, Harvard Kennedy School). This seminar is the first in a virtual series examining how to build capacity for sustainable development within global agriculture and food systems.

The series is part of the Capacity Building for Sustainable Development Initiative and will explore the capacities needed to promote equity, measure progress, adapt to shocks, transform development pathways, govern cooperatively, and link knowledge with action — drawing on insights from practitioners working to build and maintain these capacities in the global food system. Additional information on the series is available here.

The series is organized by M-RCBG, Sustainability Science Program, Salata Institute for Climate and Sustainability, Center for International Development, and the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs
