Racial Justice Webinar: How Institutional Power Dynamics Shape Civil Rights
Join us to explore the persistent gap between the promise of civil rights and the realities on the ground with two leading experts on the structural roots of inequity.
Diana Hernandez, Radcliffe-Salata Climate Justice Fellow, brings a sociological perspective which highlights the connections between housing, energy insecurity, and public health. Her research demonstrates how neighborhoods can amplify or mitigate racial disparities. Drawing from her collaboration with local communities and policymakers, she demonstrates the real-world impacts of policy and place-based interventions.
Antonio Ingram, Carr-Ryan Racial Justice Fellow, will speak on his legal experience advancing racial justice in education, political participation, and criminal justice. His research focuses on how recent legislative attacks on diversity, equity, and inclusion reshape access to power and civil rights.
Together, they will discuss how institutional power dynamics, from neighborhood conditions to state and federal law, shape the battle for racial equality and the ongoing struggle to make human rights a lived reality.
