The Case for a Financial Transactions Tax Photo

The United States faces a critical shortfall in tax revenue to fund vital programs.  A small tax on financial transactions (an “FTT”), long resisted by US policy makers, would raise substantial proceeds in a highly progressive manner.  The discussion will focus on the current structure of financial markets, how high-frequency and other trading strategies may be affected, and the case for an FTT in the US today.
