Join us for our weekly speaker series where academics and practitioners representing a wide range of international development perspectives speak on current development issues, their organization’s recent work, and/or their own work experience. Laurel Patterson, Director of SDG Integration at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will talk about how the COVID-19 pandemic brought home the reality of interconnected challenges and first person experience of the uncertainty that is generated when complex challenges cascade and collide. While many approaches help to identify emergent risks and see the bigger picture in systems - getting precise on where and how to act, including how to influence decision makers and build meaningful coalitions is essential. This requires a dynamic skill set and mind set, in this session Laurel Patterson will share UNDP's flagship SDG Push which exemplifies this effort and what they have learned working with 100 countries on their most pressing development challenges.

Directly following the speaker series event, there will be a Career Chat with Laurel Patterson in the CID Perkins Conference Room (R429) from 1:15pm - 2:15pm. Register for the Speaker Series to ensure your seat (limited capacity).
