This study group will focus on the evolving role of regulators in a world where citizen distrust of the state and its systems is on the rise. The session will explore questions such as: Are regulators part of the state apparatus, primarily answerable to national priorities and democratically elected governments? Or should they respond more directly to the public and stakeholders? How can public trust and accountability be secured in practice, while maintaining a focus on national priorities like economic growth and long-term sustainability?
Andrew Tyrie and Nicola Dandridge, both Senior Fellows with M-RCBG, will draw on their extensive experience leading national regulatory organizations in England to guide this discussion.
