A Full Century of Global Economic and Financial Crises: Similarities, Differences and Policies
In this seminar, based on his recent book, Dr. Lúcio Vinhas de Souza will talk about the almost 100 years of instability and global systemic crises since the Great Depression, a period punctuated by the collapse of several global monetary frameworks, occasional inflationary and deflationary waves, and largely limited stable periods. He will also talk about the lessons learned (if any) from the last/ongoing crisis and the feasible policy reforms that are arising from it, amidst a period of historical economic and geopolitical global shifts. Vinhas de Souza is the Director of the Economics Department and Chief Economist at BusinessEurope.
This event is being co-sponsored by the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University. It will take place in Rubenstein 414AB for those with a Harvard ID who wish to attend in person. Others may join us remotely via Zoom. Lunch will be served.
Five copies of Dr. Vinhas de Souza's book, "A Century of Global Economic Crises: Monetary Policy in Search of An Anchor" will be raffled off to those attending in person.
