Description: October 7th changed everything. It has caused tens of thousands of civilian deaths, many of them women and children, and has left millions of people with trauma and severe harm in Gaza and beyond. It has raised questions about the effectiveness of international norms and multilateral institutions and even our shared values, morality, the rules of engagement in wars, and the role and trends of foreign relations.
In this lecture series, we will discuss possible ways forward based on human rights, justice, and inclusion. The focus will be on creating constructive learning opportunities for students and scholars interested in Palestine, Israel, and Middle Eastern politics at large. Participants will engage in serious, safe, and difficult conversations with experts in Middle Eastern politics, human rights, and international relations. This session will explore potential paths to a peace deal in the Middle East and will feature Dr. Omar Razzaz.
Speakers:
Dr. Omar Razzaz, a Senior Fellow at the Middle East Initiative, has had a distinguished career in both the public and private sectors. He served as Jordan’s 42nd Prime Minister (2018-2020) and has held roles such as Minister of Education and Director of Jordan’s Social Security Corporation. He holds a Ph.D. in urban planning from Harvard, a master’s from MIT, and a bachelor’s in engineering from Louisiana Tech University.
