Stephen Gibson, Mossavar-Rahmani Research Fellow at HKS will be discussing his role as Chair of the UK government’s Regulatory Policy Committee (RPC). He will talk about the importance of independent scrutiny of the evidence and analysis supporting government regulatory proposals and how evaluation of the impact of government regulations is crucial for ensuring that regulations achieve their objectives without unintended consequences or perverse behaviour. The work of the RPC covers everything from the EU Withdrawal Bill (the legal instrument delivering Brexit) to regulations covering environmental measures, tobacco, gambling, alcohol and unhealthy food. Come for an engaging discussion about how government makes regulatory policy (and how it can do it better).

This study group / discussion is open to all HUID holders. Registration is not necessary.
