Why have efforts to strengthen quality of governance so often failed in some of the world’s most troubled states? Because they almost always ignore the human side of politics. The belief appears to be that provided you get the rules right and provide enough resources, politics is bound to work like it does elsewhere.
In this talk, Greg Power will share his experience working in the weeds of politics in more than sixty countries, helping politicians and officials find solutions to today’s problems while building the resilience of their institutions. Combining insights from behavioral economics, change management, and comparative politics, Greg argues for a different approach to political reform, one concerned less with institutional design, and more with the existing logic of human behavior.
