We are honored to invite you to an enlightening roundtable event, "Ukraine's Fight: Insights from the Frontlines of Human Rights & Policy," organized by the Ukraine Caucus in partnership with the International Human Rights Clinic at Harvard Law School and the Belfer Center at the Harvard Kennedy School. This gathering will explore the humanitarian and societal impacts of the ongoing Russian invasion against Ukraine, focusing on resilience and human rights. The event features distinguished experts in law, politics, human rights and humanitarian assistance, who will discuss recent developments and how various sectors can contribute to achieving just peace and regional security.

Moderator:
Nathalie Timtchenko, LMHC, MA-ET, MC/MPA '25 Licensed Mental Health Counselor and the Founder of First Aid of the Soul. Timtchenko leads mental health initiatives supporting war-affected Ukrainians and is advancing her expertise as a Master of Public Administration candidate at Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
Panelists:
Anastasiya Donets, Ph.D., LL.M. Team Lead of the Ukraine Legal Team at IPHR. Specializing in strategic litigation on human rights violations due to the Russian invasion, Donets holds an LL.M. from Harvard Law School and a Ph.D. in International Law.
Susan Farbstein, J.D. Clinical Professor of Law and Director of the International Human Rights Clinic at Harvard Law School. A leading expert in transitional justice and corporate accountability, Farbstein has litigated landmark human rights cases and promotes gender equity in human rights organizations.
Oxana Shevel, Ph.D. Associate Professor of Political Science and Director of International Relations Program at Tufts University. Specializing in post-Soviet politics, Shevel explores nation-building and democratization in Ukraine and Russia. Her recent work examines the Russo-Ukrainian war’s root causes.
Roya Talibova, Ph.D. Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman Assistant Professor of Public Policy at Harvard. Talibova researches political violence and its effects on political economy, with a focus on authoritarian regimes. She holds a dual Ph.D. in Political Science and Scientific Computing and MS from Statistics from the University of Michigan.
Patrick Vinck, Ph.D. Research Director at the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative and Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School & Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Vinck’s research on resilience in conflict zones has led him to study the ethics of data. He co-founded KoBoToolbox and Data-Pop Alliance.
