Introduction to GIS Photo

In this workshop you will learn the
foundations of geographic information systems (GIS), including common
file formats, software basics, and ways to get support on campus.

We will use open data and the open source desktop software QGIS to explore file types and map symbology.

No
prior experience is required. Attendance is limited to 24 participants
to guarantee hands-on help and troubleshooting. If you register and
don’t think you can make it, please email alessandra_seiter@hks.harvard.edu to make your seat available for someone else.

This
will be a collaborative session with group discussion and interactive
components. If you would prefer one-on-one instruction, please email
Belle or book a GIS consultation with the Harvard Map Collection.

Accessibility: The HKS
Library encourages individuals with disabilities to participate in our
events. If we can make learning easier for you, please email library_research@hks.harvard.edu or call 617-495-1300.
