Description: October 7th changed everything. It has caused tens of thousands of civilian deaths, many of them women and children, and has left millions of people with trauma and severe harm in Gaza and beyond. It has raised questions about the effectiveness of international norms and multilateral institutions and even our shared values, morality, the rules of engagement in wars, and the role and trends of foreign relations.
In this lecture series, we will discuss possible ways forward based on human rights, justice, and inclusion. The focus will be on creating constructive learning opportunities for students and scholars interested in Palestine, Israel, and Middle Eastern politics at large. Participants will engage in serious, safe, and difficult conversations with experts in Middle Eastern politics, human rights, and international relations. This session will explore media coverage of the Gaza War and will feature Yarden Michaeli.
Speakers:

Yarden was born in Israel and he is based in Tel Aviv. He has a Bachelor’s degree in American Studies and Economy from the Humboldt University in Berlin. Currently, Yarden is a Knight fellow at MIT, where he develops a research project focusing on the integration of technology and scientific knowledge into the newsroom, in order to create solutions to journalistic challenges such as the Gaza war.
