What: In this session, Dr. Palmiano Federer will discuss trends, challenges and trajectories in the field of mediation and conflict resolution theory and practice. She will present insights from her new book, NGOs Mediating Peace: Promoting Inclusion in Myanmar's Ceasefire Negotiations, as well as share her experiences as a researcher and practitioner working and supporting civil society organizations and armed actors involved in peace processes around the world.

Speakers and Presenters

​Dr. Palmiano Federer is a Senior Researcher at the Center for Security Studies, ETH Zürich. She is also currently a Senior Fellow at the Negotiation and Conflict Resolution Collaboratory at the Harvard Kennedy School's Center for Public Leadership. Her research interests include critical approaches to inclusive peace processes, unofficial peace dialogues, mediation process design and the nexus between climate change and conflict. She is a member of several research groups dedicated to supporting and empowering self-identifying women and women of colour researching peace and conflict. She was born in Manila, Philippines, and raised on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations (Vancouver).
