Hosted by the Harvard Foundation and the Women and Public Policy Program at the Harvard Kennedy School.
Join us at the Peggy Schmertzler Leadership Seminar for an evening of reflection and dialogue on leadership, human rights, and democratic resilience, featuring Dr. Sima Samar, Nobel Peace Prize nominee, former Vice President of Afghanistan’s Interim Administration and first Minister of Women’s Affairs of Afghanistan, and Leslie Thomas, founder of ART WORKS Projects and Executive Producer of The Sharp Edge of Peace.
The program will include selected excerpts from the above documentary, which follows four Afghan women peace negotiators as they risk their lives to defend human rights during the 2021 negotiations with the Taliban. A conversation over dinner with Dr. Samar and Thomas will explore moral courage, global solidarity, and the role of women in advancing peace and inclusive governance under the most challenging conditions.
The first 40 guests will receive a complimentary copy of Dr. Samar's memoir.
Registration is required and will be confirmed by the Harvard Foundation. If you’re a Harvard affiliate and would like to attend, please complete this form.
