The Politics of Belonging: Political Identity, Coalition Building, and the Future of American Politics ft. Whitley Yates

The Politics of Belonging: Political Identity, Coalition Building, and the Future of American Politics ft. Whitley Yates

How do you convince people they belong in a political movement they’ve been told isn’t for them? Join the Institute of Politics for the next installment of our Food for Thought series featuring political strategist and public affairs executive Whitley Yates, former Director of Diversity & Engagement for the Indiana Republican Party.

In this candid conversation, Yates will examine the relationship between political identity, partisan affiliation, and institutional trust through the lens of her work as the former Director of Diversity for the Indiana Republican Party. As both parties compete for emerging voting blocs ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, she will explore how political belonging shapes coalition formation, voter behavior, and the electoral realignments that could determine control of Congress.

Lunch will be served.
