What role should values play in American foreign policy and does the debate about new technologies like AI offer the United States a chance to restore its moral leadership in the world? Join the Institute of Politics for our Food for Thought Lunch series featuring a conversation with Tom Malinowski, former Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor and former member of Congress, for a wide-ranging discussion on the future of American leadership at home and abroad.
Drawing on his experience in the State Department and on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Malinowski will explore the moral dimensions of American power and influence in the world, and the role they could play in shaping effective approaches to global regulation of artificial intelligence. The conversation will consider how the next generation of American leaders can apply the lessons of recent history as they seek to defend our national interests and democratic values in a changing world.
This conversation will be moderated by Jack Tueting '27, Treasurer, IOP Student Advisory Committee.
Lunch will be served.
