Promoting the Role of Women in Leadership in Ethiopia

Women make up the majority of the health workforce in Ethiopia, but there continues to be a lack of representation of women in leadership roles in this sector. Advancing their leadership in healthcare can level the playing field for all - and women leaders specifically bring a unique lens and a set of diverse values to advance progress. Promoting women's leadership in the Ethiopian healthcare system requires both intentionally dismantling barriers to entry, but also creating opportunities for women to advance and flourish in the field. Dr. Lia Tadesse Gebremedhin, former minister of health of Ethiopia, will reflect on her own leadership experiences, and discuss the efforts and challenges to drive this gender equity agenda.

Speaker: Lia Tadesse Gebremedhin, Visiting Lecturer on Global Health and Population, Global Health and Population and Executive Director of the Harvard Ministerial Leadership Program, Harvard University
