Regulatory Reform: The State We're In

Regulators across the Western world are increasingly being criticized by their governments. Governments of the United Kingdom, the European Union, the United States, among other jurisdictions have called for regulatory reform to support growth and economic outcomes. Why are regulators viewed as a problem, and what options do governments have to promote better regulatory performance?

In this study group, Lord Andrew Tyrie, Senior Fellow at the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government and former chair of the United Kingdom's Competition and Markets Authority, along with Jason Furman, Aetna Professor of the Practice of Economic Policy jointly at Harvard Kennedy School (HKS) and the Department of Economics at Harvard University, will discuss why regulators underperform and examine proposals to improve regulatory performance through better practice and governance.

This study group / discussion is open to all HUID holders. Registration is not necessary.
