Join CID as we welcome Fernando Reimers. Fernando M. Reimers Ford Foundation Professor of the Practice of International Education at Harvard Graduate School of Education, examines how education system particularly in the Global South can build the leadership capacity needed to deliver meaningful and equitable change under conditions of growing complexity. Drawing on research on system and school leadership, he will explore why traditional approaches to leadership training often fall short and how capacity building can be reimagined as long-term, practice-embedded learning ecosystems. The session will highlight the critical role of universities, especially those in the Global South, in strengthening the “middle tier” of education systems and will consider how emerging tools, including AI, can support leadership development while raising important questions about equity, power, and institutional design.
This event is hosted by Harvard Center for International Development and will be held in a hybrid format. All are welcome. Harvard ID holders are encouraged to attend in person, while non-HUID guests are invited to join via livestream or access the event recording afterward.
