​​Between 2006/7 and 2018/19, the number of severely obese children in the UK rose by 87%. Stephen Gibson M-RCBG Senior Fellow and former Principal Economist at Ofcom, the UK communications regulator will discuss the analysis that he directed to support restrictions of advertising of junk food in the UK which led to children seeing 80% fewer junk food TV adverts in 2020 than in 2005, and more generally how impact assessments can be used to inform public policy decision making.
