Solar Geo Policy Seminar: Governance Lessons from SCoPEx Photo

The Stratospheric Controlled Perturbation Experiment, or SCoPEx, is a small-scale outdoor experiment intended to study aerosol microphysics and atmospheric chemistry in order to learn more about the potential benefits and risks of solar geoengineering via stratospheric aerosol injection.  Due to its novelty, SCoPEx also provides an opportunity to build, evaluate, and explore governance mechanisms applicable to solar geoengineering field experiments.  This seminar will consider current governance arrangements for SCoPEx, experiences and lessons learned since the project was first announced, and broader questions related to research governance and social license.

This is a HYRBID event, meeting over Zoom and in person at HKS. If you wish to attend via Zoom, please register online. If you are an HUID holder and wish to attend in person at HKS, please email claire_byrne@hks.harvard.edu.
