In the last 25 years states around the country have been expanding their early education and care services, with governors of both parties showing leadership to expand access and raise quality. Increasingly, states are developing new governance structures to oversee their early education and care systems. Institute of Politics Resident Fellow Aimee Guidera will host a deep-dive conversation with one of the nation’s leading experts on how states are creating a new era of service delivery in early childhood. This session will explore dramatic changes in state governance, the growth of local systems, new approaches to using data, and the role of advocates and philanthropists in shaping policy. Aimee will be joined by Elliot Regenstein, partner at Foresight Law + Policy and the author of the new Harvard Education Press book Readiness: Preparing State Early Childhood Systems for a Brighter Future.
