Predicting the Future: A Live Political Forecasting Experience with FiveThirtyEight
Brittany Shepherd hosts FiveThirtyEight Chief G. Elliott Morris, Editorial Director of Data Analytics at ABC News and author of Strength In Numbers: How Polls Work and Why We Need Them, for a hands-on workshop on creating predictive polling models.
Together, the study group will use FiveThirtyEight's average of Trump’s approval today and create a live forecast to predict where it might be this time next year, helping us understand what might be next in America’s perception of Trump’s second administration.
Then we will learn how to turn those numbers into digestible reporting with data visualization, and how you can use this in any field. From journalism to consulting to campaigns — learn how to use data in a practical, multifaceted way.
AUDIENCE: These conversations are open to members of the Harvard community. Please RSVP with a valid Harvard email address.
OFF-THE-RECORD: In keeping with our long tradition at the IOP to ensure honest and candid discussions of politics, all IOP study groups are off-the-record.
